1896 GIACOMO PUCCINI autographed letter signed ALS (referencing opera Tosca) LOA
1896 Giacomo Puccini autographed letter signed ALS (referencing Tosca). Significant postcard announcing that Puccini will start work on Tosca; which was finally premiered in 1900 and went on to become one of his most celebrated works. ALS dated June 6, 1896, signed “Puccini” horizontally in the right margin. Written on one side of a 5.5 x 3.5 postcard, the letter is addressed to composer Carlo Clausetti of the Ricordi music publishing firm in Naples. Puccini announces his departure for Torre del Lago. He is without obligation, Dio mi scampi [God forbid] to me, and could very well be with the “double animal” [dell’animale doppio]. He adds that he did not know that Clausetti’s uncle was a composer of operas. In a few days he will start Tosca (“A giorni incomincio Tosca”). In fine condition, with scattered light foxing. We always stand behind the autographed material. Keynote Memorabilia is a trading name of’London Collectibles Limited’ – our company registration number is 10211694 (England & Wales).
